Patna: Saurashtra claimed a decisive seven-wicket victory over Bihar in the Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy match held on Sunday, 8 December, at the Air Force Complex Ground in New Delhi.
After winning the toss, Saurashtra opted to field first, putting Bihar into bat. Bihar managed to score 175 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 50 overs. Vishalakshi anchored the innings with a steady 43 runs off 115 balls, hitting three boundaries. Captain Pragati Singh added a brisk 35 runs off 41 balls, including two fours and a six, while Arya Seth contributed 29 runs off 37 balls. Other notable contributions came from Preeti (21 runs off 34 balls, four fours) and Apoorva Kumari (16 runs off 46 balls).
For Saurashtra, T Dharni was the standout bowler, claiming 3 wickets for 34 runs. P Modhwadia, N Chavda, and Monika Virani chipped in with a wicket each, keeping Bihar’s scoring under control.
In response, Saurashtra comfortably chased down the target, reaching 176 for 3 wickets in 48.2 overs. Umeshwari Jethwa led the charge with an unbeaten 59 runs off 81 balls, hitting five boundaries. M Jadeja provided excellent support with an unbeaten 30 runs. Earlier in the innings, Sifa N Karimbhai scored 25 runs off 83 balls, and P Kanaujia contributed 27 runs off 45 balls.
Bihar’s bowling effort was led by Apoorva Kumari, who took 2 wickets for 33 runs in her 10 overs. Pragati Singh claimed 1 wicket for 30 runs in 6 overs. Despite accurate spells from Preeti Priya (33 runs in 10 overs), Preeti Kumari (23 runs in 9.2 overs), and others, Bihar failed to defend their total.
Saurashtra earned full points for the victory, while Umeshwari Jethwa was named Player of the Match for her stellar performance. Bihar will face Uttar Pradesh in their next match on 12 December.
