Khagaria, June 26: The Hundred Bihar 2nd State Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament, organized by the Bihar Badminton Association and District Badminton Association, Khagaria, reached its peak on the final day with a series of competitive and exciting matches across all categories.
In the men’s singles final, Saksham Vats of Patna emerged victorious, defeating Amrit Raj of Muzaffarpur in a three-game thriller with scores of 21-17, 21-23, and 21-14.
The women’s singles title was claimed by Akanksha Pandey of Buxar, who defeated Suhani Kumari of Muzaffarpur in consecutive sets, 21-11 and 21-18.
In the men’s doubles category, the pair of Satyam Kumar and Yashvardhan from Muzaffarpur triumphed over Mohammad Tabrez and Akashdeep from Patna with scores of 21-15, 19-21, and 21-14.
In the mixed doubles category, Sameer Raj and Vaibhavi Singh from Purnia and Katihar defeated Ankit Kumar and Sara Kausar from Khagaria and Patna in straight sets, 22-20 and 21-14, to become champions. Despite their loss, Ankit and Sara displayed exceptional skill, winning the hearts of the local audience.
The tournament concluded with a prize distribution ceremony presided over by the Chief Guest, District Magistrate of Khagaria, Amit Kumar Pandey. Cash prizes and trophies were awarded by the Bihar Badminton Association. The event was graced by several dignitaries, including K N Jaiswal, Secretary of the Bihar Badminton Association, and Dr. H Prasad, Secretary of the District Badminton Association, Khagaria, among others.
