Patna: In a joining ceremony held at the state office of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday, several leaders and hundreds of workers from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) formally joined the BJP. Among those who switched sides were former Lok Sabha candidate and former state president of the RJD Mahila Morcha Ritu Jaiswal, state vice-president of the RJD women’s wing Professor Rajmani, RJD district president from Bhagalpur Seema Jaiswal and state secretary of the RJD youth wing Maya Gupta along with a large number of party workers.
BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi welcomed the new entrants by presenting them with party stoles and administering the membership. The event was attended by several BJP office-bearers and workers, along with Bihar minister Dilip Jaiswal.
Addressing the gathering, Saraogi said that the people of Bihar had grown weary of dynastic politics, corruption and appeasement. He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a model of development, good governance and welfare for the poor had been established, drawing people from various parties towards the BJP.

He described the BJP not merely as a political party but as a commitment to national service, stating that its workers strive to deliver development to the last person in society with a “nation first” approach. He also highlighted the Centre’s initiatives for women’s dignity, safety and empowerment, including the Ujjwala scheme, maternity benefits, support for self-help groups and increased political participation.
Praising Ritu Jaiswal, Saraogi took a swipe at the RJD, remarking that once the BJP’s doors open fully, “not a single person will be seen at their threshold.” He further described Prime Minister Modi as the world’s most popular leader, noting that he had received the highest civilian honours from 32 countries, which had contributed to the BJP’s growing appeal.
He said that development had accelerated in Bihar under the “double-engine government”, citing progress in roads, healthcare, education, employment and infrastructure. The induction of Ritu Jaiswal and hundreds of others, he added, reflected the strengthening public trust in the BJP across the state.
Calling on the new members to take the party’s ideology to every village, Saraogi reiterated that the BJP operates on the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas”. He expressed confidence that the party would continue to serve the people of Bihar with greater strength in the coming years.
After joining the BJP, Ritu Jaiswal said she had been inspired by Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and the party’s nationalist ideology. She asserted that the BJP was working sincerely for the development of women, the poor and all sections of society, and pledged to strengthen the organisation and promote its policies with full dedication.
Those who joined the BJP also included Shakuntala Prajapati, Sangeeta Yadav, Julekha Khatoon, Bhanu Devi, Kanchan Kumari Mahto, Satyendra Yadav, Anil Mahto, Shiv Shankar Yadav, Ramji Singh, Uday Kumar Yadav, Kailash Yadav, Ram Chhabila Paswan, Sitaram Rai, Ashutosh Yadav, Shyam Babu Chaurasia, Shashi Ranjan Paswan, Suresh Rai, Shivji Nishad Singh, Vikram Kumar, Avdhesh Yadav, Jitendra Mahto, Bulbul Yadav, Shankar Thakur and Raj Gaurav Tiger.
