Patna: Former Union Minister and National President of Aap Sabki Awaaz, RCP Singh, has initiated the process of candidate selection for 162 out of 243 assembly seats in Bihar, signalling his party’s readiness for the upcoming state elections. Speaking at a press conference just six weeks after inaugurating the party’s office in Mustafapur village, Nalanda, Singh outlined his vision, policies, and strategies to bring about a “change of power” in Bihar.
Criticising Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Singh asserted that the state is grappling with multiple challenges, including unemployment, student protests, and farmer distress caused by what he described as flawed government policies. “Our aim is to become the voice of the common man. Preparations are underway, and in-charges have been appointed in 162 assembly constituencies to develop a robust election strategy,” he said.
Addressing the question of alliances, Singh maintained an open stance, stating, “We are not averse to forming alliances with any party.” However, he refrained from explicitly ruling out a potential partnership with the RJD. Singh reiterated his commitment to securing a change in Bihar’s leadership, emphasising that his party’s priority is addressing the state’s pressing issues.
He highlighted employment as Bihar’s most critical problem, expressing concern over the state’s reputation being tarnished by incidents of examination paper leaks and administrative irregularities. “Our focus is on building a strong and developed Bihar,” Singh declared.
On women’s empowerment, Singh critiqued Chief Minister Kumar’s approach, urging him to prioritise actionable reforms over symbolic initiatives like his state tours. “More concrete efforts are needed to empower women and address employment concerns,” he added.
Regarding the possibility of collaborating with political strategist Prashant Kishore, Singh said, “We are open to welcoming anyone interested in joining us after strengthening the organisation.”
When asked about the ongoing EVM controversy, Singh called it a “serious issue,” urging the Election Commission to ensure transparency and maintain public trust in the electoral process.
With his assertive approach and ambitious plans, Singh is positioning Aap Sabki Awaaz as a key player in Bihar’s political landscape, aiming to resonate with the aspirations of the state’s common people.
