Patna: Hockey Patna emerged victorious in the 14th Hockey Bihar Senior Men’s State Championship 2024, defeating Hockey Muzaffarpur 2-1 in the final held at Dung Dung Stadium, BRC Danpur. Organised by Hockey Patna, the event showcased a thrilling contest for the title.
The final match saw Patna’s Johnny Kumar break the deadlock in the third quarter, scoring through a penalty corner in the 39th minute to give Patna a 1-0 lead. Muzaffarpur’s Nandlal Shah responded swiftly, equalising with a penalty corner goal in the 42nd minute. The game remained level until the 55th minute of the fourth quarter, when Salman Khan’s field goal sealed Patna’s 2-1 victory and the championship title.
Johnny Kumar was named Player of the Match and also received the Best Scorer award. Rohit Kumar was recognised as Best Goalkeeper, while Shanu Lama took home the Best Player award.
Umpires Nelson Kujur and Preeti Kumari officiated the match, supported by Rambali Kumar, Raju Kumar, Ravi Kumar, and Vikas Kumar Singh on the technical table.
During the awards ceremony, Army Officer Pritam Bahadur and Jitendra Kumar of BRC Danpur presented medals and trophies to the winning team. Hockey Bihar Convenor Munindra awarded medals to the runners-up and extended a vote of thanks.
The closing ceremony was attended by Assistant Secretaries Manoj Kumar and Achal Kumar, Hockey Patna Secretary Munindra, and other dignitaries, celebrating the tournament’s success.
