Patna: Patna Police have apprehended three suspects involved in the robbery that took place near the bypass on 9 October. The arrested individuals include Priyaranjan Kumar, also known as Golu, a resident of Khemnichak Gokul Colony; Amarjeet Kumar, originally from Nawada and currently residing in Priyaranjan’s area; and Pawan Kumar, a resident of Kachuara. Police have recovered a Pulsar motorcycle used in the crime, Rs 17,000 in cash, a country-made pistol, and three mobile phones from the suspects.
On Friday, SP East Shubhankar Mishra provided details of the case, revealing that two to three other associates may have been involved in the robbery. According to the SP, the incident occurred on 9 October, but the victim, Piyush Chaudhary, who lives in Gangoli Apartment in the Gandhi Maidan police station area, filed a First Information Report (FIR) only on 30 October due to fear.
The police investigation revealed that on the day of the robbery, company staff were en route to deposit Rs 3 lakh in a bank. As they reached the Khemnichak bypass, three armed assailants on a motorbike intercepted them, held a gun to the staff member, seized Rs 3 lakh, and fled while firing shots.
Further information indicated that, after the FIR was delayed, the criminals began to demand extortion money via WhatsApp, terrifying the company owner. The suspects demanded Rs 5 lakh monthly, warning that the initial robbery was merely a “trailer” and that they would escalate their threats if their demands were not met. They even sent images of pistols and bullets to intimidate the owner further. The police intervened, encouraging the owner to lodge the FIR, leading to the eventual arrest of the suspects.
