Patna: Metro operations are set to commence soon in Bihar’s capital, Patna, with work progressing rapidly towards completion. Urban Development Minister Nitin Nabin recently instructed the team to expedite the metro project, and if the current pace is maintained, metro services in Patna are expected to start in 2025.
The long-awaited dream of traveling by Metro in Patna is about to become a reality. The first metro line in the capital will operate from Bairia Bus Terminal to Malahi Pakadi. Most of the work required to initiate this metro line is already complete, and the remaining tasks are being fast-tracked. Urban Development Minister Nitin Nabin expressed optimism that metro operations will begin by 2025, with obstacles in construction being resolved.
By 2025, residents of Patna will enjoy Metro services on the elevated route from Bairia Bus Terminal to Malahi Pakadi. The preparation of slabs for both tracks on this section is nearly 80 percent complete, and once finished, the work of laying the railway tracks on these elevated slabs will commence.
Patna will have five operational elevated metro stations by next year, covering a length of 6.63 km. These stations include Bhootnath, Malahi Pakadi, Khemnichak, Zeromile, and Patliputra Bus Terminal. In total, 24 metro stations will be constructed in Patna, with 12 of them being elevated. The initial phase of metro operations will begin next year, connecting the bus stand to Malahi Pakadi.
