Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav met at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, sparking significant political speculation in Bihar. This marked the first meeting between the two leaders in eight months. As soon as Tejashwi Yadav entered the chamber in the Main Secretariat, it triggered a sudden buzz in the state’s political circles.
Although the meeting was brief, it has heightened the political intrigue in Bihar. Reports suggest that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav discussed the appointment of the Information Commissioner, with both leaders agreeing on a candidate for the post.
The appointment of the Information Commissioner in Bihar is a process involving the Chief Minister, the Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, and members of the Cabinet. The CM chairs the committee responsible for the selection, with the Leader of Opposition as one of the key members.
According to sources, two posts are currently vacant in the Bihar Human Rights Commission, and the meeting also covered the selection of candidates for these positions. Additionally, two members are to be appointed to the Information Commission, with decisions on both posts finalised during the meeting.
Tejashwi Yadav confirmed that a decision has been made regarding the appointments, and the state government will soon provide official information. He also mentioned that they discussed the issue of the Ninth Schedule, which is currently under judicial consideration. Tejashwi indicated that both sides have presented their arguments in court and will continue to do so effectively.
