Patna: With the conclusion of Chhath Mahaparva, Biharis who travelled home for the festival are now set to return to their workplaces from Saturday. To support returning travellers, Patna Mahavir Temple has organised a special initiative to distribute free snack packets at Patna Junction. According to Acharya Kishore Kunal, Secretary of Patna Mahavir Mandir Nyas Samiti, this distribution began on Saturday, 9 November, with 10,000 snack packets being prepared daily by the temple.
Acharya Kunal highlighted that thousands of Biharis working in other states come back to Bihar annually to celebrate Chhath with their families. Given the high demand on trains during this period, the Mahavir Temple has arranged these complimentary snacks for passengers. Each packet, prepared by artisans of the temple’s Naivedyam unit under the supervision of R. Sheshadri, includes two Khaasta Littis filled with Sattu and a large Gaja, neatly packed in a closed box.
The distribution will take place across various platforms at Patna Junction, with assistance from railway staff. The packets are primarily intended for passengers in general and sleeper classes, helping ease their journeys home after the festival. This initiative, expected to reach over 50,000 travellers, is a continuation of last year’s successful distribution following Chhath, when Mahavir Temple provided free snacks to thousands at Patna Junction.
