Patna: Passengers traveling from Patna Junction have reason to rejoice as the station has introduced QR code payment options at its general ticket counters. This new feature allows passengers to make quick and convenient payments using their smartphones. The system has already been implemented at two counters located at the Karbighiya end of the junction.
The QR code devices have been installed by the Center for Railway Information System (CRIS), enabling passengers to make digital payments via UPI by simply scanning the code. Previously, passengers had to manually provide their UPI ID for digital payments, a process that was often cumbersome, especially for elderly passengers who might not easily remember their UPI IDs. This sometimes led to delays, with the booking time in the system’s software expiring before the payment could be completed, requiring the booking process to be restarted.
With the new system, passengers can now scan the QR code directly to make a payment, simplifying and speeding up the ticketing process. The QR code installation will eventually extend to all general and reservation counters at Patna Junction. A team from Kolkata is handling the installation process.
The new devices will display the ticket amount and a unique QR code for each transaction. Passengers will scan the code to make their payment, after which their ticket will be printed. Each QR code will be unique to the transaction, with the ticket amount and UTS number also printed on the device, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free payment experience.
This facility will soon be available at all stations within the Danapur division, offering a modern, efficient solution to ticket purchasing across the region.
