Patna: In a significant development in the high-profile coaching centre dispute in Patna, Roshan Anand, Director of Gyan Bindu Coaching, has been granted bail. The court approved his plea on Monday after completing the hearing. The case had earlier been adjourned twice, drawing considerable public attention to the outcome.
Roshan Anand had been accused in connection with a dispute involving Khan Sir’s coaching institute, including allegations of orchestrating an attack and assaulting a security guard. Following the incident, police arrested him and sent him to Beur Jail. He is set to be released after 12 days in custody and will travel directly to Saharsa to attend the funeral of his brother, Prince Yadav.
During the hearing, senior advocate Ramakant Sharma of the Patna High Court urged both parties to behave responsibly, reminding them that they are teachers and should uphold that role. The court also advised both sides to maintain healthy competition and avoid any involvement in criminal activities. Anand’s counsel argued that he had no role in the incident and questioned why allegations of firing by Khan Sir’s bodyguard had initially been concealed.
The bail hearing took place in the court of Additional Judge-33. Anand’s lawyer maintained that even if the case registered against him were accepted at face value, it did not prove his involvement in the alleged attack. The defence also highlighted inconsistencies, including the omission of the alleged firing incident by Khan Sir’s guard in the initial complaint.
Meanwhile, in a separate but related development, Anand’s brother Prince Yadav was found dead in a hotel room in Nepal on Sunday under suspicious circumstances. Police are investigating the case and have taken one of his associates into custody for questioning. His body has been brought to his ancestral village in Dhamsena, Saharsa district, where the last rites will be performed in the presence of family members. The bereaved mother is said to be in deep distress.
The controversy dates back to the night of June 2, when an attack was reported at Khan Sir’s coaching centre. Khan Sir accused Roshan Anand of orchestrating the attack and firing. A case was subsequently registered, leading to Anand’s arrest. However, CCTV footage initially showed only a physical altercation, with no evidence of gunfire.
Two days later, another CCTV clip surfaced on social media, allegedly showing Khan Sir’s guards firing shots. Acting on this footage, police arrested two guards, who reportedly claimed they had fired on Khan Sir’s instructions. A case was then registered against Khan Sir, and raids were conducted to apprehend him.
Khan Sir had been absconding, but on June 9, the Patna Civil Court granted him anticipatory bail and stayed his arrest. In contrast, Roshan Anand remained in custody until the court reserved its order after multiple hearings. On Monday, June 15, the Patna Civil Court granted him bail, while cautioning both educators to focus on teaching rather than becoming involved in criminal incidents.
