Patna: Changes to the traffic system in Patna come into effect from today, following a review of traffic routes. The new regulations will primarily impact commercial vehicles, handcarts, auto rickshaws, e-rickshaws, and passenger buses using routes through Chiraiyatand Bridge, Nala Road, and Bari Path, which have now been diverted.
Freight vehicles travelling from Buddha Marg towards the Old Bypass via GPO roundabout will now be redirected through Karbigahiya instead of the GPO roundabout. Similarly, freight vehicles heading towards Chiraiyatand from the R Block roundabout via GPO will now travel via the Bhikhari Thakur ROB and Mithapur flyover to reach Old Bypass or Mithapur.
Traffic restrictions will also be imposed on vehicles approaching Chiraiyatand Bridge via Gandhi Maidan, Ramgulam Chowk, Kadamkuan (via CDA Building), and Patna Junction (via Goriyatoli). For two hours, from 5 pm to 7 pm, goods vehicles, handcarts, auto rickshaws, and passenger buses will be prohibited from entering these routes.
In addition, all commercial vehicles will be banned from using Nala Road between 5 pm and 8 pm. Goods vehicles, commercial vehicles, auto rickshaws, and passenger buses will not be allowed access during this time.
Furthermore, commercial goods vehicles are barred from travelling between Machhua Toli and Hathua Market on Bari Path from 1 pm to 3 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm. Entry for these vehicles will be strictly prohibited during these hours.
