Patna: A joint operation by the Military Intelligence team from Lucknow and Danapur police has uncovered a significant forgery racket in the capital city of Patna. The military intelligence team arrested Mohammad Sarwar Ali, a rubber stamp seller, from whom they recovered over 100 counterfeit army rubber stamps.

Sarwar Ali had been manufacturing and selling fake rubber stamps without a licence. The investigation revealed that he had been producing and supplying stamps not only for the army but also for paramilitary forces, banks, schools, and various government and private departments. Sarwar Ali had been under the surveillance of Military Intelligence for the past six months.

A resident of Khajpura, Patna, Sarwar Ali was found in possession of more than 10 army stamps and over 100 stamps from other government and private institutions. The unauthorised use of these stamps posed a potential security threat to the army and the nation. The stamps could also have been misused in fake recruitment schemes. Legal proceedings have been initiated by the police.

Fraud and deception involving fake army jobs are common in Patna and surrounding areas. The Military Intelligence team has handed over the suspect to the Danapur Police, who have taken him into custody and are continuing to interrogate him.

Currently, the police are investigating the case based on the initial questioning. Efforts are underway to uncover any accomplices involved in the fraud and to determine the extent of the fake stamp distribution network.
