Bihar Police conduct raids on drug traffickers

Patna: In a major crackdown on the drugs trade, police conducted simultaneous raids at multiple locations in the Maner police station area of Patna district, targeting the hideouts of drug traffickers. Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Danapur DSP-2 Amarendra Kumar Jha carried out raids on three to four houses of suspected drug mafias near the Maner Government Hospital crossing, seizing a large quantity of narcotics, cash and weapons.
During the operation, police recovered around 500 grams of drugs, 500 grams of charas, a country-made firearm, several magazines, approximately ₹12 lakh in cash, along with gold and silver jewellery. Five people, including a woman, have been taken into custody and are being questioned.
According to sources, police received specific information about drug trafficking being operated from a tea stall near the Maner Government Hospital crossing. Following this, teams conducted hour-long searches at several houses linked to the tea stall owner, thoroughly checking household items. Apart from narcotics, liquor, weapons and valuable articles were also recovered from different premises.
Those detained include Veeru Kumar, son of Pawan Kumar, a resident of Basti Road, Shubham Gupta of Hospital Mor, and a woman drug trafficker, among others. Further legal action is being initiated after interrogation.
On receiving information about the operation, City SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh reached the spot and personally questioned the suspects. He said a large amount of cash had been seized along with drugs and that a special team has been formed to expose the entire network. Further raids are underway, he added, while investigations continue.
