Patna, June 6: Ahead of the government formation at the center, Janata Dal (United) has initiated pressure politics. From Patna to Delhi, JD(U) leaders have begun asserting their significance within the NDA government. Following a meeting at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s residence in Delhi, JD (U) spokesperson KC Tyagi conveyed the party’s stance, ranging from the Agniveer Yojana to the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
“A segment of voters expresses dissatisfaction with the Agniveer scheme. Our party advocates for a thorough discussion to address public concerns and rectify any shortcomings. As the national president of the party, CM Nitish Kumar has penned a letter to the Law Commission chief regarding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). While we don’t oppose it, we emphasise finding a solution through consultations with all stakeholders,” stated KC Tyagi, JD(U) spokesperson.
Addressing the issue of caste-based census, KC Tyagi mentioned that no party in the country has outrightly rejected it. Bihar has set a precedent in this regard. The Prime Minister, too, did not oppose it during the all-party delegation. Conducting a caste-based census is imperative, and we are committed to advancing it. However, securing special status for Bihar remains a priority for us.
Tyagi asserted, “There are no preconditions. Our support to the NDA is unconditional. There are no demands, no bargaining. We stand firmly with the NDA and will continue to do so. Disregard any speculations,” he added.
Meanwhile, MP Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan) Singh stated that the JD (U) parliamentary party meeting is scheduled for tomorrow at 9:30 am. We stand united with the NDA and will maintain our steadfast support. There is no room for doubt. According to reports, the NDA parliamentary party meeting is slated for 11:30 am.
