Patna: Following the resignation of IPS officer Kamya Mishra, another high-profile officer, IPS Shivdeep Lande, has stepped down from his post. Lande, who recently became the Inspector General (IG) of Purnia, announced his resignation on social media, stating that after 18 years of government service, he has decided to step down.
In his message, Lande expressed his deep connection to Bihar, where he has spent most of his career. He wrote, “My dear Bihar, after serving in a government post for the last 18 years, today I have resigned. I have always prioritised Bihar above myself and my family. If there were any mistakes during my service, I apologise.”
Despite resigning from the Indian Police Service (IPS), Lande stated that he would continue to reside in Bihar, which he referred to as his “karmabhoomi” (land of duty). This statement has fuelled speculation that he may soon enter politics, with his significant fan following in Bihar viewing this as a potential political move.
In a recent reshuffle in September, Lande was appointed IG of Purnia Range after serving as IG of Tirhut Range. A 2006 batch IPS officer, he hails from Maharashtra and has served in various posts across Bihar.
Lande’s decision has sparked much discussion, with many wondering which political party he might join. While some speculate about his potential entry into politics, others have expressed disappointment at his resignation. His social media post has attracted numerous comments, with some urging him to join Prashant Kishor’s ‘Jan Suraj’ movement, and others wishing him luck if he contests the elections.
The coming days will likely reveal whether Lande intends to embark on a political career, but for now, his resignation has generated a wave of intrigue and anticipation in Bihar.
