Exam Mafia Strikes Again: CHO Recruitment Exam Cancelled After Solver Gang Exposed

By Neeraj Kumar

Patna: The Bihar State Health Society has cancelled the December 1 examination and postponed the December 2 session after a solver gang was found to have infiltrated the recruitment process for Community Health Officers (CHO). Acting on intelligence, the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) and Patna Police raided three examination centres in Patna, detaining 37 individuals and recovering multiple electronic devices.

Patna SSP had earlier received information about potential irregularities in the examination, prompting the formation of a special investigative team. According to DIG of the EOU, Manavjit Singh Dhillon, the raids revealed that the solver gang used proxy servers, remote-access applications, and specialised software to manipulate the examination system. “Evidence from the raids is being analysed, and detained individuals are under interrogation to uncover the full extent of the malpractice,” he stated.

The CHO examination was held in two shifts on 1 December across 12 online centres in Patna, with plans for another session on 2 December. However, prior intelligence on rigging led authorities to act swiftly, disrupting the gang’s operation.

This is not the first such incident in Bihar. In 2023, a similar solver gang was implicated in leaking question papers for the constable recruitment exam. The EOU and Patna Police had arrested several individuals then, although some suspects remain at large.

The current scandal has once again raised questions about the security of online examinations and the persistent influence of exam mafias in recruitment processes. The Economic Offences Unit continues its investigation, aiming to dismantle the network behind this operation.
