Patna: On the concluding day of the 16th Bihar State Senior, Junior, Sub Junior, and Youth Boys and Girls Road Cycling Championship, organised by the East Champaran District Cycling Association under the aegis of the Cycling Association of Bihar, Vikas Kumar Singh of Bhabua clinched first place in the 34 km mass start event for men. Prahlad Kumar of Gaya and Nitish Kumar of Bhabua secured second and third places, respectively.
In the women’s 32 km mass start event, Baby Kumari from East Champaran took first place, followed by Manju Kumari from Saran in second place, and Shweta Kumari, also from East Champaran, in third.
The junior boys’ 24 km mass start saw Vikas Yadav of Siwan claim victory, with Deepak Kumar from East Champaran securing second place and Aditya Kumar of Parivartan finishing third. In the girls’ category, Suhani Kumari of Saran took first place, while Shalini Kumari of Purnia and Appi Kumari of East Champaran took second and third places, respectively.
In the sub-junior boys’ 8 km race, Shashi Yadav of Siwan finished first, followed by Aryan Kumar Singh of Purnia in second place, and Shaurya Kumar of East Champaran in third. In the girls’ category, Amrita Kumari of Siwan took first place, with Srishti Kumari and Siya Kumari, both from East Champaran, securing second and third places.
East Champaran emerged as the overall winner of the competition, while Siwan finished as the runner-up.
The winning athletes were honoured with medals and mementos, presented by Dr Hena Chandra, Vice President of the Cycling Association of Bihar, Vikram Aditya, and other dignitaries. Present at the event were Dr Kaushal Kishore Singh, Secretary of the Cycling Association of Bihar; Siddharth Verma, Secretary of the East Champaran District Cycling Association; Joint Secretary Ashok Mehra; Treasurer Sudhir Kumar; Media In-charge Pankaj Verma; Manish Kumar, and a large number of sports enthusiasts.
