Danapur-Bihta Elevated Corridor to Be Completed in 20 Months: Key Updates on Construction Progress

By Neeraj Kumar

Patna: The Danapur-Bihta Elevated Corridor is set to be completed within the next 20 months, according to District Magistrate Dr Chandrashekhar Singh. He stated that instructions have been issued to the Danapur Sub-Divisional Officer and Sub-Divisional Police Officer to address any issues arising during the project’s implementation.

As per recent updates, the land acquisition process has been successfully completed across 22 villages, eliminating a major hurdle for the project. Additionally, alternative traffic arrangements are being developed to ensure minimal disruption during construction.

A service lane is being constructed alongside the road widening from Kanhauli to Bihta Chowk. Efforts are also underway to remove transformers, shift poles, and add a lane at Bihta Chowk to facilitate smoother and safer traffic flow. These tasks are expected to be completed within two weeks. Simultaneously, work on upgrading the road from Bihta to Katesar into a four-lane stretch, including the construction of four small bridges, is progressing and is anticipated to take three months.

To maintain traffic flow during the elevated road’s construction, designated routes have been established for heavy vehicles. These include:

  • Danapur Cantt Road via Bihta to Maner
  • Shivala Road via Kanhauli to Naubatpur
  • Danapur via AIIMS and Bihta Road via Bikram through Bihta-Sarmera Road

Small vehicles will continue to operate on their usual routes.

The Bihar government is undertaking the construction of the Danapur-Bihta Elevated Corridor as part of its efforts to decongest traffic in the state capital, Patna. The project encompasses a 25.071 km stretch starting from Danapur station, with the elevated section spanning 14.4 km. The total cost of the project is estimated at ₹1969.4 crore.

Once completed, the corridor will include facilities such as bus shelters, truck parking, and a dedicated lane for disaster management. The target for project completion is September 2026, but the elevated road construction is expected to be finished within 20 months.

This ambitious infrastructure project aims to significantly improve connectivity and traffic management in the region, offering enhanced safety and convenience for commuters.
