Patna: The re-examination for the BPSC 70th Preliminary Test (PT), previously cancelled due to irregularities at the Bapu Examination Complex, was conducted today at 22 centres across Patna. A total of 5,900 candidates appeared for the test amidst strict security and administrative oversight.
Results by January End
BPSC Chairman Parmar Ravi Manubhai announced that the results of the 70th PT exam will be declared by the end of January. “2035 Candidates will be selected from the re-examination for the mains examination, following which the schedule for the mains will be finalised,” he stated.
Administrative Measures for Smooth Conduct
The Patna District Administration deployed 24 static magistrates-cum-observers, 22 zonal magistrates, and a flying squad team to ensure the examination proceeded smoothly. Patna District Magistrate (DM), Dr Chandrashekhar Singh, conducted inspections, including at the Bankipur examination centre, after gates were closed.
Dr Singh remarked that this time, more admit cards were downloaded compared to the earlier exam, with approximately 8,200 admit cards accessed from the commission’s website. Official data on attendance will be released after the exam’s conclusion.
Key Highlights
- Examination centres were adequately secured, with question papers delivered on time.
- No reports of disruptions were received despite ongoing protests and sit-ins by political parties and candidates demanding a re-conduct of the entire examination.
Background
The BPSC 70th Preliminary Test, initially held on 13 December across 912 centres in Bihar, faced irregularities at the Bapu Examination Complex in Patna, where question papers were not distributed on time. This led to the cancellation of the exam for that centre and its rescheduling.
Significance of the Vacancy
This recruitment drive is the largest in the commission’s history. Authorities have taken extensive measures to address past irregularities and ensure transparency in the ongoing process.
