Sovima: Bihar Under-23 team registered a commanding victory over Nagaland Under-23 by an innings and 198 runs in the multi-day Col CK Nayudu Trophy Plate (Under-23) match played at Sovima Cricket Ground, Sovima, Nagaland, from January 30 to February 2, 2026.
Batting first, Bihar produced a patient and dominant performance in their first innings, declaring at a mammoth 714 for 8 in 157.3 overs. The innings was highlighted by a magificent double century from Prithvi Raj, who completely put the Nagaland bowlers under pressure. Prashant Kumar and wicketkeeper-batter Shashank Upadhyay also struck centuries, while Deepak and Aditya contributed valuable half-centuries to consolidate Bihar’s commanding position.
In reply, Nagaland were bundled out for 158 in 57.1 overs in their first innings, as Bihar’s bowlers maintained disciplined and incisive lines, never allowing the batters to settle.
Forced to follow on, Nagaland showed resistance in the second innings through a fighting knock from Sujal Prasad, who scored 153 off 232 balls, and Keneizetuo Rio, who made 64 off 237 balls. However, the team was eventually bowled out for 358 in 117.2 overs.
Leading from the front, Bihar captain Suraj Kashyap delivered an outstanding bowling performance in the second innings, claiming 6 for 70 in 31 overs, including 7 maidens. Prithvi Raj picked up two wickets, while Suman Kumar and Aditya Raj took one apiece. Suraj finished the match with a total of nine wickets, emerging as the leading wicket-taker.

With this emphatic win, Bihar Under-23 have secured their place in the final of the CK Nayudu Trophy Plate tournament. Bihar Cricket Association president Harshvardhan congratulated the players, support staff and team management, and extended his best wishes for the final, expressing confidence that the team would continue to perform with the same dedication and discipline.
BCA secretary Ziaul Arfin also congratulated the team on behalf of the entire BCA family, expressing hope that Bihar would carry the same energy and discipline into the final.
A balanced and clinical performance by both batters and bowlers ensured Bihar’s decisive victory. The team will now play the tournament final at their home ground.
