Bihar State cuisine Becomes the Star Attraction at India International Trade Fair

New Delhi:  The weekend brought a wave of food enthusiasts to the Bihar Food Stalls at the State Food Court in the Trade Fair. “Mr. Littiwala,” operated by Devendra Kumar Singh, became a major attraction with its signature dishes like Litti-Chokha, Samosa Chaat, and Dahi Bhalla. Visitors thronged the stall to savor these traditional delights.

Within the dessert division, Anarsa, Launglata, and Chandrakala left the crowd spellbound with authentic tastes. From clamoring for Sattu and Litchi Juice, they were as quenches to thirst as refreshing to the spirit.

Another stall quite popularly known, “MBA Makhana Wala,” during its operations by Shravan Kumar, thrilled visitors with new offerings like Makhana Dosa, Makhana Idli, Makhana Shake, and Makhana Coffee. A well-meld of traditional flavors with myriad options makes this year’s Bihar Food Stalls in the State Food Court the most highlighted among the visitors.

At Bihar pavilion in Hall No 2, The silver craft and Zari arts from Bihar have been given the status of trade fair display items this year in the ongoing International Trade Fair. Having abiased traditional Bihar pavilions, artisans from Bhagalpur and Patna are exhibiting their craftsmanship to the admiration of people not just from across the country but also from overseas.

Bhagalpur’s Silver Craft:

Artisans from Bhagalpur are showcasing their creations in silver craft at Stall No. 21. These include an array of silver utensils like plates, glasses, and bowls, along with jewellery such as anklets, bangles, and rings, arranged in popular forms by artisans at Maniya, in the Bhagalpur district. These crafts have a high demand internationally, including USA and Canada. The craftsmanship by these artisans is certified by the department, giving a feel of reliability and trust.

Patna’s Zari Art:

Products designed by Shridhi Kumari at her workshop on Bailey Road in Patna have also drawn attention. Ready-to-wear blouses and sarees, the works that involve intricately worked zarif, dabka, thread, and sequins are designed by Shridhi, and these designs are selling in great numbers in cities such as Greater Noida, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, as well as in markets in Chicago and Los Angeles.

Customer Appreciation and Government Support:

Feeling highly gracious, both artisans expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response given to them by the visitors: silver utensils, anklets, and bangles have emerged as the top favourites for the customers, while the Zari garments have also won applause. All this could be made possible with the support of the Bihar government, aimed at promoting local artisans globally.

The International Trade Fair Synopsis:

This fair, commencing on the 14th of November, has made the Bihar Pavilion a great attraction in the fair. The exhibition not only highlights Bihar’s cultural heritage but also indicates how local artisans can further their rightful and fair place in international markets effectively through their skill, creativity, and innovation.
