Patna: A high-level meeting to review pending and critical issues related to the redevelopment of Moinul Haq Stadium was held at Vikas Bhavan on Wednesday. The meeting was chaired by Bihar Sports Department Secretary Vinod Singh Gunjiyal and attended by Patna District Magistrate Dr. Thiyagarajan S.M and City Superintendent of Police (Central) Diksha. Representatives from the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA), the Patna Metro project, and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) centre in Patna were also present.
During the meeting, the Bihar Cricket Association gave a detailed presentation on various aspects of the stadium project. The association informed officials that it has proposed a timeline of approximately three years to complete the development and construction work.
Gunjiyal directed the BCA to prepare a comprehensive crowd management plan in advance, keeping in mind the possibility of hosting major sporting events in the future. He noted that the stadium would have a seating capacity of around 40,000 spectators and said all arrangements must be planned accordingly.
He further emphasised that Moinul Haq Stadium is one of the state’s most significant sports infrastructure projects, and that its operation and event management would require a long-term and strategic approach.
The relocation of the SAI centre currently functioning within the stadium premises was also discussed. It was agreed that a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be signed between the Bihar government and SAI for this purpose. A total of 42 players and students associated with the centre will be shifted to other suitable sports facilities within Patna to ensure that their training is not disrupted.

Officials also reviewed matters related to clearing the stadium premises. Representatives from the Patna Metro project informed the meeting that their equipment had already been removed from the premises and the area had been handed over to the BCA.
The relocation of a police station currently operating within the stadium complex was discussed in detail. The District Magistrate confirmed that administrative approval for its permanent relocation has already been granted. Temporary arrangements will be made to shift the police station at the earliest, allowing the BCA to begin demolition work and proceed with further development.
The Sports Secretary also instructed a delegation of departmental officials to visit the site to monitor the clearance process on priority. He stressed the need for close coordination among all concerned agencies to ensure timely implementation.
All stakeholders expressed their commitment to working together for the development of Moinul Haq Stadium and strengthening sports infrastructure in Bihar. Officials reiterated that the state government is treating the project as a key initiative aimed at enabling the hosting of national and international sporting events in the future.
