Patna: A high-level review meeting on the ‘Bihar Agriculture App’ was held on Friday (May 15, 2026) at Krishi Bhavan in Patna, chaired by Agriculture Minister Vijay Sinha. The meeting focused on strengthening the app’s outreach, farmer training, monitoring, and participation, with several key decisions taken to boost its use across the state.
The minister directed officials to organise youth farmer training camps at panchayat, block and district levels to improve digital literacy in rural areas. He said trained young farmers would be recognised as “Bihari Digital Agriculture Warriors” and encouraged to motivate others to use the app. Outstanding performers will be rewarded by the department.
Sinha also announced that, in addition to Hindi and English, the app will soon be available in regional languages including Magahi, Bhojpuri, Angika and Bajjika to make it more accessible. The top five districts, blocks and panchayats with the highest number of farmer registrations will be honoured. Departmental staff delivering strong performance will also be recognised.
To increase awareness, hoardings, banners and posters will be displayed in all agriculture offices across the state. Farmers attending training sessions organised through BAMETI will receive detailed guidance on using the app.
The minister added that the app will now use the term “summer crops” instead of “garma crops”. It will also include information related to rabi (spring) and kharif (autumn) crops.
Sinha recalled that the app was launched on 19 May 2025 along with then Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. At present, around 1.15 million farmers are registered on the platform, and the government aims to reach nearly 8 million registrations by the end of this year.
The app offers a range of services to farmers, including real-time information on fertiliser availability at nearby shops, a single-window interface for government schemes along with a farmer passbook, market prices, weather alerts and crop protection advice. It also provides soil health card details, an AI-based chatbot under the PM initiative, and access to Bihar Agriculture Radio.
Concluding the meeting, the minister instructed officials to ensure the presence of headquarters-level officers during training campaigns at the panchayat level, so that every farmer in the state can become part of the digital transformation.
Senior officials present at the meeting included Agriculture Department Principal Secretary Narmdeshwar Lal, Special Secretary Birendra Prasad Yadav, Agriculture Director Saurabh Suman Yadav, and Horticulture Director Abhishek Kumar, among others.
