Patna: In a major decision, the Bihar Police Headquarters has cancelled the leave of all police personnel from 5th to 16th October 2024 to ensure smooth maintenance of law and order during the upcoming festival season. An official order regarding this has been issued by the Bihar Police Headquarters.
Sharadiya Navratri will commence on Thursday, 3rd October, and will culminate with Mahanavami on 11th October, followed by Dussehra on 12th October. During this period, Durga idols are installed across major cities, including the capital Patna, attracting large crowds of devotees.
The cancellation of police leave is intended to ensure crowd control and prevent any disturbances during Durga Puja, as well as to maintain law and order during the religious festivities. However, leave may be granted in special circumstances.
In an official letter, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), Sanjay Singh, stated that all leaves in the police department are suspended to ensure law and order, and communal harmony during Durga Puja-2024. Senior Superintendents of Police, Superintendents of Police, Commandants, and Principals have been instructed to enforce this order.
