Patna: In a Bihar cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, a total of 31 proposals related to various departments were approved. The proposals encompass a wide range of sectors including the Agriculture Department, Sports Department, General Administration Department, Labour Resources Department, Urban Development and Housing Department, Road Construction Department, Health Department, Transport Department, Liquor Prohibition Excise and Registration Department, Revenue and Land Reforms Department, Minor Water Resources Department, Public Health Engineering Department, Science Technology and Technical Education Department, Law Department, Information Technology Department, Finance Department, Home Department, Labour Resources Department, and the Cabinet Secretariat Department.
A significant decision was made to divide the Patna Sadar Zone into four distinct zones: Patna Sadar Zone, Pataliputra Zone, Patna City Zone, and Didarganj Zone. This reorganisation is aimed at improving administrative efficiency. Additionally, the cabinet approved the creation of 466 additional posts at the district level within the Sports Department. To ensure the smooth operation of the State Sports Academy and the International Standard Cricket Stadium under construction in Rajgir, 33 positions of various categories will be filled on a contractual basis.
The cabinet also approved the creation of one post of Additional District and Sessions Judge in the Saharsa Judiciary. Employees of local Municipal Bodies in Bihar will now benefit from the Seventh Pay Revision.
In the Information Technology cadre, two posts of Programmer have been created in the Establishment Branch of the Patna High Court. The cabinet approved the creation of 116 posts of Assistant Professor in Government Engineering Colleges, in addition to the 273 posts already established for English, Physics, and Mathematics subjects. Furthermore, 131 posts of Lecturer have been created in Government Polytechnic and Government Women Polytechnic Institutes, supplementing the existing 284 posts for English, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects. Approval was also granted for the creation of three Driver posts for the Minor Water Resources Department at Patna Headquarters.
In honour of the late former Prime Minister of India, Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, his death anniversary will be observed as a state function in Patna, as decided by the Nitish cabinet. Moreover, the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine will be administered to girls aged 9 to 14 years to prevent cervical cancer under the newly approved Chief Minister’s Girl Child Cancer Immunization Scheme. The Home Department also approved the creation of 67 additional posts of Jail Driver-1 for the management of prisons and hospitals across Bihar.
