Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has intensified his crackdown on land mafias, issuing a strong warning on Friday against illegal land dealings and administrative irregularities.
Addressing concerns over corruption in the Revenue and Land Reforms Department, Sinha said he wished to send a clear message to land mafias. “I have stepped out with a shroud tied on my head. Inspired by Atal ji’s ideals, I am prepared for any consequence and have no fear,” he declared.
The Deputy Chief Minister asserted that he would not allow either land mafias or officials to indulge in wrongdoing. He alleged that officers and employees opposing his campaign against land mafias were, in fact, working for brokers and middlemen. “Those who genuinely wish to serve the public will never oppose this drive,” he said.
Sinha has earlier taken several stringent steps against land mafias and has once again issued a firm warning. He has also been participating in public outreach programmes to ensure speedy resolution of land-related disputes. Speaking to the media during one such *Land Reforms Jan Samvad* programme, he said that if any official was found guilty and evidence was available, strict action was inevitable. He was responding to questions over the suspension of a Circle Officer (CO) during the programme.
On Wednesday, Sinha visited Gaya district, where he directly interacted with the public and listened to their grievances. From the stage, he asked the gathering whether his strict measures were showing results. The crowd replied in unison, “Not in Gaya, though it may be visible in other districts.” The response led to palpable tension at the venue.
During the programme, the Deputy Chief Minister issued a stern message to officials, saying, “The season has changed, and now employees must change too.” In a warning-laden tone, he remarked that officials should ensure their actions do not bring consequences upon their families.
In a dramatic move, Sinha announced the suspension of the Circle Officer of Amas block in Gaya district from the stage itself. The decision immediately triggered a stir in administrative circles.
