Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday transferred nearly ₹1,100 crore directly into the bank accounts of more than 94 lakh social security pension beneficiaries. The funds were released at the rate of ₹1,100 per month under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) programme.
The Chief Minister addressed the event via video conferencing from Bihar Bhavan in New Delhi, where the programme was organised by the Social Welfare Department.
Speaking on the occasion, Samrat Choudhary said providing social security to the poor, deprived, and vulnerable sections of society is a key responsibility of his government. He highlighted that during the previous administration, the pension amount was increased from ₹400 to ₹1,100 per month.

He said that the scheme benefits elderly citizens aged 60 and above, widows, and persons with disabilities. To ensure timely payments, the government has decided to deposit the pension amount into beneficiaries’ accounts on the 10th of every month going forward.
The Chief Minister also urged eligible individuals who are not yet receiving pensions to apply at the earliest. He appealed to those whose pensions are delayed due to lack of Aadhaar linkage to complete the process promptly in order to receive benefits without interruption.
The programme was attended by the Chief Minister’s Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh and Resident Commissioner Manoj Kumar in person. Social Welfare Minister Dr Shweta Gupta, Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, Additional Chief Secretary H.R. Srinivas, district magistrates from across the state, and beneficiaries joined the event via video conferencing.
