All the position holders of Bihar Sub-Junior Chess Championship

Patna: Patna’s Aishani Pathak and Darbhanga’s Jayesh Mishra emerged as the standout performers in the Bihar State Sub-Junior Chess Championship, clinching the girls’ and open (boys’) titles respectively at the tournament held in Litra Valley School.
Aishani delivered a flawless performance in the girls’ category, scoring a perfect nine out of nine points to secure the title. The top seed sealed her victory in style, defeating Kirti Sinha with the white pieces in the final round.
On the second board, Mohini Pandit of Saran and Arpita Singh of Bhojpur settled for a draw, finishing with seven points each. Ankita, who won her final-round game against Pratiksha on the third board, also ended on seven points. Based on tie-break scores, Mohini, Arpita and Ankita were placed second, third and fourth respectively.
In the open category, Jayesh Mishra held his nerve in a tense final round, drawing with Patna’s Ekansh Bhardwaj while playing with the black pieces on the top board. The result took his tally to eight points, enough to secure him the championship.
The second board witnessed the longest game of the round between Patna’s Advik and Begusarai’s Arth Bhardwaj, which eventually ended in a draw. Meanwhile, top seed Pratyush defeated Pratap Shrestha with the white pieces on the third board to finish on 7.5 points and claim the runner-up position. Eight players, all scoring seven points, were ranked from third to eleventh based on tie-break scores.
The prize distribution ceremony followed the conclusion of the final round. Inspector General of Police (Patna Zone) Jitendra Rana attended as the chief guest, alongside Amit Prakash, Chairman of Litra Valley School. All Bihar Chess Association President Diljeet Khanna and Secretary Dharmendra Kumar were also present.
Winners in both categories were awarded a total cash prize of ₹30,000, along with trophies, medals and certificates. The organisers and school management honoured the chief guest with a bouquet and memento.
Several officials, arbiters, players and parents were present in large numbers to witness the concluding ceremony.
