Patna: Bengal cruised to a dominant nine-wicket victory over Bihar in their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 match on Tuesday at Niranjan Shah Stadium Ground C, Rajkot. The standout performer, Karan Lal, was named Player of the Match for his scintillating knock.
Bihar, invited to bat after losing the toss, posted a total of 147 for six in their allotted 20 overs. The innings revolved around Sakibul Gani’s impressive 79 off 56 balls, featuring 12 boundaries and a six. Contributions from Kumar Rajneesh (22 off 17 balls), Bipin Saurabh (13 off 11 balls), and Ankit Singh (11 off 15 balls) provided modest support, while the lower order struggled to add significant runs.
Bengal’s bowlers maintained control throughout. Sayan Ghosh led the attack, taking 2 for 32, while Mohammed Shami, Prayas Rai Barman, and Shahbaz Ahmed each chipped in with a wicket.
Chasing 148, Bengal reached the target in just 14 overs, scoring 150 for one. Karan Lal was sensational, smashing an unbeaten 94 off just 47 deliveries, studded with nine fours and six sixes. Sudip Kumar Gharami added an unbeaten 32 off 27 balls, and Abhishek Porel chipped in with a quick 19 off 10 balls.
Bihar’s bowling attack struggled, with only Prashant Kumar Singh managing a wicket. The remaining bowlers failed to make an impact, conceding runs at a high rate.
With this victory, Bengal strengthened their position in the tournament, while Bihar, playing in Group A, will face Madhya Pradesh in their final match on 5 December.
