Ankita Raj of Bihar Secures Ninth Place in World Cadet Chess Championship

Patna: Ankita Raj of Bihar achieved ninth place in the Under-8 age group at the World Cadet Chess Championship held in Batumi, Georgia. The tournament was conducted in two phases, with Ankita advancing to the second phase after scoring 4.5 points in the first phase. In the second phase, she played two matches against India’s Nakshatra, who was in fifth place in Group B. Ankita emerged victorious, winning by a margin of 1.5 points.

The championship saw participation from 288 players representing 37 countries. Out of the 23 Indian participants, four girls competed in the Under-8 category. Ankita’s performance was the best among her Indian peers, earning her the ninth place overall. Her achievement was celebrated by officials from the All Bihar Chess Association, including President Diljeet Khanna and Secretary Dharmendra Kumar, who congratulated her on her success.
