Patna: Police have cracked the sensational murder of Aman Shukla in the state capital, arresting three accused, including the alleged mastermind. The breakthrough came after a joint operation by the Patna Police and the District Intelligence Unit’s technical team.
Illegal firearms, live cartridges, magazines, mobile phones, cash and the motorcycle used in the crime have been recovered from the accused.
Addressing a press conference, Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K Sharma said investigations revealed that Aman Shukla was killed after a contract of ₹5 lakh was taken out on him. He disclosed that after being released from jail, Shukla was attempting to reorganise his gang and was allegedly planning a major criminal act in Patna. Fearing this and due to internal rivalry, his close associates and friends allegedly conspired to have him eliminated.
The SSP said that during investigation and interrogation it emerged that Shukla was involved in plotting criminal activities, leading to a serious dispute with a former associate. This rivalry ultimately resulted in a planned contract killing. In a calculated move, the conspirator reportedly surrendered in court in an earlier case on the very day of the murder to deflect suspicion.
The murder took place on January 5, 2026, when unidentified assailants shot a man dead under the jurisdiction of Patrakar Nagar police station. Following the incident, a special team was formed under the leadership of the City Superintendent of Police (East), Patna. Acting swiftly on technical and scientific evidence, including CCTV footage, police arrested one accused from the Parasbazar police station area. Based on his disclosure, two more accused involved in the crime were subsequently apprehended.
Police said Aman Shukla had a criminal past and was earlier an accused in a dacoity case. After his release from jail, his movements were under scrutiny. Investigators have gathered crucial evidence through technical inputs, call detail records and sustained interrogation of the accused. Police said all aspects of the case would be fully exposed soon.
Aman Shukla was shot dead near Malahi Pakri Chowk in the Patrakar Nagar police station area. He was gunned down in front of his wife and children. The 38-year-old was allegedly the mastermind behind the PNB bank robbery case.
