Patna: The third and final day of the Fifth Bihar State Closed Squash Championship concluded with thrilling matches and remarkable performances at Bankipur Club, Patna.
In the men’s category final, Abhiraj Singh retained his champion’s title for the second consecutive year by defeating Saurav Agrawal in a closely contested match, winning 11-5, 11-7, 9-11, 11-6. Meanwhile, in the women’s category final, defending champion Sunny Mehta showcased her dominance, defeating Soni Kumari 11-4, 11-1, 11-7, and clinching the championship for the fifth time.
In the Under-19 boys’ final, Abhiraj Singh secured his second title of the day by defeating Radhesh Sharma with an emphatic 11-2, 11-4, 11-1 victory. In the Under-17 girls’ final, Kritika Jha edged past Akita Prakash with a hard-fought 11-7, 11-7, 11-9 win, earning the championship honours. The Under-17 boys’ final saw Kudan Kumar emerge victorious against Adarsh Agrawal with a scoreline of 11-4, 11-1, 7-11, 11-7.
At the conclusion of the championship, the winners were felicitated by the chief guest, Dr Sanjay Santhalia, Sports Director of Bankipur Club. Special guests included treasurer Mr Santosh Mohan Charanpahari, guest of honour and Bankipur Club Director Mr Subhash Prasad Sinha, along with Mr Khurshid Ahmed and Dr Sajeev Kumar.
The event was organised under the guidance of Dr Kaushal Kishore Singh, Secretary of the All Bihar State Squash Racket Association, with support from Mr Avinash Kumar and Mr Manish Kumar. The championship reinforced the state’s growing enthusiasm for squash and celebrated the outstanding talents of its players.
