Lucknow: A State-level Women’s Youth Parliament on the theme ‘Nari Shakti: Voice of a Developed India’ was organised on April 12, 2026 at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow, by Mera Yuva Bharat, Uttar Pradesh, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
The inaugural session commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Dr Babita Singh Chauhan, Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women Commission. The programme began with a rendition of Vande Mataram. Regional Director Anil Kumar Singh welcomed the chief guest by presenting a memento and outlined the objectives and framework of the event in his address.
A musical prayer was presented by the youth participants. In her address, Dr Chauhan emphasised that the youth form the strong foundation of the nation. Referring to initiatives such as Nari Shakti Vandan and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, she stated that women are continuously being empowered under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She urged young people to adopt a mindset of gender equality and to move forward with determination.
Second Session
The second session was attended by Chief Guest Baby Rani Maurya, Cabinet Minister for Women Welfare, Women and Child Development and Nutrition, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and Special Guest Rajeshwar Singh, Vice-Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Seed Development Corporation. The session also began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.
Addressing the gathering, Ms Maurya said that the vision of a developed India remains incomplete without women’s participation. She encouraged youth, particularly young women, to become self-reliant, prioritise education, and take up leadership roles in society.
Highlighting the contribution of rural women, she said they undertake numerous tasks throughout the day that often go economically unrecognised, yet they remain the backbone of families and society. She praised their dedication, hard work, and multifaceted roles, elaborating on their daily routine.
She further noted that qualities such as transparency and honesty are naturally ingrained in women, as they make effective use of their time and avoid unnecessary activities.
In the subsequent session, women participants expressed their views on the theme as part of the Youth Parliament proceedings. During the valedictory ceremony, Rajeshwar Singh presented mementoes to the participants.
The programme was skilfully conducted by Kirti Shukla, who presented impactful thoughts on women’s empowerment, equal participation, and justice.
Among those present were Deputy Director Vikas Singh, Jagriti Pandey, Aakarsh Dixit, Mahe Alam, Anupam Kumar, Sonika Chandra, district youth officers from various districts, officials from different departments, and other distinguished guests. More than 1,200 youths from across Uttar Pradesh participated in the event.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by State Director Gopesh Pandey.
