RPF Recovered Stolen Belongings of Railway Passengers Worth Approximately Rs 1 Crore

Bhagalpur: Stolen belongings of railway passenger worth approximately Rs one crore was recovered here on Thursday this week by Railway Protection Force (RPF), Malda Division of Eastern Railway.
The RPF succeeded in registering major recovery following detention of two suspected people in course of checking in coach S-7 of Howrah- Jamalpur Superfast Express train, on arrival of the train here yesterday morning.
Based on specific information related to theft of gold and silver belongings beside mobile phone of passengers, the search operation was jointly carried out by RPF, GRP and CIB in aforesaid compartment.
Items like cutter blade, lockets supposedly made of gold besides mobile phones were recovered from possession of the detained suspects. Following their subsequent interrogation further raids were conducted at location specified by the detainees. Raid at the specified location led to recovery of large quantity of valuable items suspectedly stolen from railway passengers.
The recovered items included ornaments such as bangles, chains, lockets suspectedly made of gold beside anklets, chains, bangles, rings suspectedly made of silver apart from brass bangle, coins, foreign and Indian currency notes.
Total estimated value of recovered items is approximately Rs one crore has been confirmed by RPF, Malda division. Meanwhile further action has been initiated against those detained in connection with theft of belongings of railway passengers. Efforts are also underway to nab their other accomplishes involved in the crime.
The search resulting in recovery of stolen belongings was undertaken as part of Operation Yatri Suraksha and Operation Amanat of RPF under supervision of Ashim Kumar Kullu, Divisional Security Commissioner, RPF, Malda Division.
As per railway press release under guidance of Manish Kumar Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager, Malda surveillance and special drives are being conducted regularly by RPF, Malda division for prevention of crime and ensuring safe travel for railway passengers.
