Patna: The Bihar Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on Tuesday approved 41 agenda items, taking several key policy and development decisions. The Cabinet gave its nod to signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jharkhand for the sharing of Son river water. Of the total 7.75 million acre-feet of water, Bihar will receive 5.75 million acre-feet, while Jharkhand will get 2 million acre-feet.
The Cabinet approved recruitment to 694 posts across various cadres in the Agriculture Department. It also cleared appointments to 200 posts in the Dairy, Fisheries and Animal Resources Department. A Bihar Bhavan will be constructed in Mumbai at an estimated cost of ₹314 crore. In the Education Department, approval was granted for the creation of nine posts in the Directorate of Higher Education.
The government sanctioned ₹138.82 crore for the acquisition of 50 acres of land near Darbhanga Airport for the construction of a logistics park and cargo hub. An additional one-time grant of ₹30 crore was approved for the Bihar Advocates’ Welfare Trust Committee. The Cabinet also cleared the creation of four posts of legal assistants to be attached to the office of the Hon’ble Chief Justice.

Approval was granted to start four AICTE-approved diploma-level courses at Bhagalpur Government Polytechnic (Textile Technology), including Computer-Aided Costume Design and Dress Making, Fashion and Clothing Technology, Garment Technology, and Textile Technology, with 60 seats each. The Cabinet further approved the creation of 106 posts in the Department of Science and Technology.
The Nitish Cabinet also cleared the installation of 9,073 new CCTV cameras in 13 state jails, at a cost of ₹155.38 crore. In addition, approval was given for setting up a cement factory in Rohtas district at a cost of ₹107.32 crore, involving the expansion of Dalmia Cement Limited’s Banjari unit, which is expected to generate employment for 594 skilled and semi-skilled workers.
