Patna: As 2025 draws to a close, departments across Bihar are preparing to present their annual performance reports. Bihar Police have also released details of their achievements during the year. Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar presented the crime and law-and-order report before the media in Patna.
Addressing a press conference along with Additional Chief Secretary Arvind Chaudhary, the DGP said Bihar Police recorded significant success in crime control in 2025, with a notable decline in serious offences such as dacoity and murder. He said sustained efforts to strengthen law and order had helped people feel safer across the state.
According to the data shared, murder cases in Bihar fell by 7.72 per cent between January and December 2025. Incidents of dacoity declined by 24.87 per cent, while riot-related cases dropped by 17.97 per cent during the same period.
The DGP said these results were achieved through targeted crime-control strategies. In action against serious crimes, including dacoity, robbery, rape and kidnapping, Bihar Police arrested 3,35,116 people in 2025.

Highlighting action against assets acquired through crime, Vinay Kumar said property seizure proceedings were initiated against 70 criminals during the year, though these cases are currently pending in court. In addition, 1,419 criminals have been identified for property confiscation, and charge-sheets in 405 such cases have been submitted to courts. He said the move had helped weaken criminal networks financially.
Sharing figures related to prohibition enforcement, the DGP said police seized 16.79 lakh litres of country liquor and over 16.51 lakh litres of foreign liquor in 2025. During the year, arrests were made in 1,308 cases of communal violence, 524 cases of attacks on police personnel, 58 incidents of mob violence, 64 cases of celebratory firing, and several other offences, leading to the arrest of a total of 6,854 accused.
The DGP also claimed that Naxalism has almost been eliminated from Bihar. He said the police aim to ensure prompt action in serious cases within 24 to 36 hours. He further announced that Bihar Police will procure 2,000 scooters next year to deploy women police personnel for patrolling around schools and colleges to curb harassment and improve women’s safety.
