Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary

Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has issued a stern warning to mafias in Gaya, declaring that he has come to “set them right” and will take firm action to ensure they remember good governance. He said that with the Home Department now under his charge, there would be no leniency towards criminals.
Addressing a gathering in Gaya, Choudhary said his mandate was to rein in mafias and criminals so decisively that they would be reminded of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s governance. He added that bulldozer action against illegal activities had already begun in the state and would be intensified to impose complete control over crime.
The Deputy CM said bulldozers were being used against encroachers and appealed to the public to report cases where mafias had occupied government land. “Once an application is received, the encroachment will be demolished without fail,” he said.
Choudhary also issued a strong warning to Naxalites, asserting that within the next few months they would either be behind bars or eliminated. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve to make Bihar Naxal-free by March 31, 2026, he said only five or six Naxalites remained and action against them would be completed within three months.
Speaking on Bihar’s changing landscape, the Deputy CM highlighted improvements in infrastructure, noting that travel time between Gaya and Patna had reduced significantly, reflecting the state’s progress.
Choudhary was in Gaya to attend the inauguration of a private Mahabodhi Medical College and Hospital. In his address, he said the government aimed to create conditions over the next five years so that Bihar’s youth would not need to migrate outside the state for education or employment.
He reiterated that criminals would not be spared under any circumstances and said the opening of institutions like Mahabodhi Medical College in remote areas symbolised Bihar’s development. He added that while few medical colleges were established between 1979 and 2000, the state had since transformed and planned to set up medical colleges across Bihar within the next three years.
The event was attended by Bihar Assembly Speaker Dr Prem Kumar, Health Minister Mangal Pandey, MLA Romit Kumar, Mahabodhi Medical College and Hospital Director Rajesh Kumar Pandey, Secretary Ruby Kumari, among others.
