Patna: The famous Harihar Kshetra Sonpur Fair will commence on November 13 and run until December 14. Bihar Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha will jointly inaugurate the fair, with an ensemble of Bollywood singers set to perform at the opening ceremony. Numerous dignitaries, including state ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and other public representatives, will attend as special guests.
District Magistrate Aman Sameer announced that extensive preparations have been made by the Tourism Department to enhance the grandeur of this year’s fair. A new cultural pandal and an art and craft village have been constructed, and the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation has established a Swiss cottage in the tourism village, equipped with modern amenities. Special tour packages from Patna to Sonpur have also been introduced. Throughout the fair, a cultural pandal will host daily cultural events, celebrating Bihar’s rich heritage.
A temporary tourist information centre has been set up within the cultural pandal, with tourist guides available to provide visitors with comprehensive details about the fair and its layout. The district administration has made thorough arrangements for security and programme coordination, with Tourism Department Secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh overseeing preparations.
Inaugural Guests
The inauguration will be led by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha. Other distinguished guests include:
- Dr. Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, Revenue and Land Reforms Minister
- Nitish Mishra, Industry and Tourism Minister
- Sumit Kumar Singh, Science, Technology, and Technical Education Minister, and Saran District Minister in Charge
- MPs: Rajiv Pratap Rudy (Saran) and Janardan Singh Sigriwal (Maharajganj)
- MLAs: Dr. Ramanuj Prasad, Shrikant Yadav, Satyendra Yadav, Janak Singh, and former ministers Jitendra Kumar Rai, Kedar Nath Singh, Dr. CN Gupta, Surendra Ram, Krishna Kumar Singh (alias Mantu), Chhotelal Rai
- MLCs: Dr. Virendra Narayan Yadav, Sachchidanand Rai, and Afaq Ahmed
