Patna: A massive fire broke out on Sunday morning at Bihar’s renowned Marwari Vasa Hotel on Fraser Road in Patna. The blaze caused chaos in the area, especially due to the presence of several major offices, including banks, nearby. Upon receiving the alert, fire brigade personnel swiftly arrived at the scene and managed to control the fire in time.
The hotel staff acted promptly, removing gas cylinders from inside the premises as soon as the fire escalated, which helped avert a potential catastrophe. This incident brought back memories of a tragic fire a few months ago at Pal Hotel, located just 700 metres from Marwari Vasa Hotel, where 7 to 8 people lost their lives and many others suffered burns.
The fire brigade was called to Marwari Vasa Hotel at around 8:00 AM, and after considerable effort, the fire was brought under control. Although the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, some workers suspect it was triggered by a short circuit. At the time of the incident, several guests were staying at the hotel, all of whom were asleep when the fire broke out. Upon hearing the news, they quickly evacuated their rooms.
In response to the fire, about six fire engines were dispatched to the scene. The fire department and district administration had previously issued safety guidelines to hotels, particularly following the Pal Hotel fire. Many hotels in the area are situated in narrow lanes, which can make access challenging for emergency services in the event of such incidents.
