Bhagalpur: Union Health Minister and BJP President JP Nadda stated today that making the right electoral choice triggers development, while a wrong decision can lead to a situation where the safety and security of the people become difficult to maintain. The Union Minister made these remarks while inaugurating a 200-bed super speciality hospital this evening, during a function held to mark the occasion.
To emphasise the significance of making the right electoral choice, Nadda explained that the super speciality hospital could be built because Prime Minister Narendra Modi was voted into power by the people in 2014. Without directly naming any political party, the Union Minister subtly indicated that it was the people’s support for the Prime Minister that had ushered in an era of development in the state.
Further underscoring the need for careful electoral decisions, he remarked, “Policies are framed and implemented by us, but it is the people who are our masters. Hence, the support of the people is essential to achieve developmental goals.”
Referring to the policy changes initiated by the Modi-led central government to address public health needs, Nadda noted that earlier policies focused solely on treating illnesses. Now, in addition to treatment, the emphasis is on preventing illness as well.
He added that the comprehensive health policy, conceived under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi, aims to address the healthcare needs of the population in a holistic manner. Nadda went on to outline the measures the current government has taken to fulfil the health requirements of economically weaker sections of society.
Since 2014, eight new medical colleges have been sanctioned in Bihar by the central government, Nadda said, adding that the number of undergraduate seats in medical colleges across the state has also increased significantly. He pointed out the substantial allocation for Bihar in the recent Union Budget, reaffirming that the development of the state is a priority for the central government.
In this context, he referred to the ongoing efforts to enhance health infrastructure in the state, aiming to reduce the need for people to travel to metropolitan cities for medical treatment. Regarding the newly inaugurated super speciality hospital, the Minister noted that, with its modern facilities, the hospital will cater to the healthcare needs of people in the region and neighbouring areas.
Prime Minister Modi had laid the foundation stone for the hospital in February 2019. Although the hospital was initially planned for inauguration in 2021, various factors delayed its opening.
The hospital features departments of neurology, neurosurgery, nephrology, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, urology, and geriatrics, each with 20 beds, alongside a 40-bed intensive care unit. Additionally, there are eight state-of-the-art operation theatres within the hospital.
Currently, the outpatient departments of neurosurgery, cardiology, nephrology, and plastic surgery have begun operations. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhry, State Health Minister Mangal Pandey, and officials from the Health Department were also present at the inaugural function.
