Patna: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to launch an extensive membership drive in Bihar, with the goal of enrolling over one crore new members. This campaign comes as the state gears up for the 2025 Assembly elections, where the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has set an ambitious target of winning more than 200 seats. The BJP aims to bolster its workforce by expanding its membership base, which currently stands at 80 lakh.
The membership campaign is scheduled to commence on September 1. To facilitate this effort, a team has been established in each district, with all existing party workers required to renew their membership. The campaign was officially inaugurated at a conference held at Ravindra Bhawan in Patna, with the party’s national general secretary, Sunil Bansal, attending as the chief guest.
BJP State President Dilip Jaiswal highlighted that the membership drive had been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but he emphasised that now is the time to intensify efforts. He called on all workers and office bearers to fully engage in the campaign, reinforcing that the Bharatiya Janata Party is fundamentally a party of dedicated workers.
A four-member team has been established in each district to oversee the campaign. The BJP aims to nearly double its membership in Bihar ahead of the 2025 elections. The programme saw the presence of senior BJP leaders, including Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Singha, alongside other ministers and officials of the Bihar government.
BJP spokesperson Prabhakar Mishra underscored the significance of this membership campaign from an organisational perspective, noting that the target set is considerably higher than the number of active members during the last Assembly elections.
