Patna: For the past two years, discussions have been ongoing at Patna University regarding the introduction of AI courses. Additionally, a three-member university team visited Gandhinagar, Gujarat, last year to explore the possibility of launching forensic science studies. Despite over a year passing since this visit, the forensic science program has yet to begin, prompting Senate members to demand the course’s initiation to meet current academic needs.
The team, including the Dean, Proctor, and IQSE in-charge, visited Gujarat to observe the setup of forensic labs and the conduct of studies there. Following their visit, they prepared a syllabus and course structure for the forensic science program, which was then submitted to the university management. However, the course structure is currently pending approval from the Bihar government.
University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh confirmed that the proposal for the forensic science course has been sent to the Bihar government, and the university is awaiting approval. Once sanctioned, the course will be introduced at Patna University.
In addition to forensic science, there are plans to introduce courses on Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, and Cyber Law. The university intends to bring these proposals before the Academic Council in the near future.
During the Senate meeting held on Friday, August 9, Bihar Governor and Chancellor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar emphasized the importance of introducing new courses at the university. He urged members to take the initiative in launching programs in AI, Forensic Science, Defense Studies, Cyber Security, and Cyber Law, recognizing these subjects as essential for the future.
