Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Sunday chaired a high-level review meeting on eco-tourism at the ‘Sankalp’ auditorium in Lok Sevak Awas, 1 Anne Marg.
During the meeting, senior officials including Anand Kishor, Additional Chief Secretary of the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department, and Dr Chandrashekhar Singh, Secretary of the Water Resources Department, presented detailed plans and proposals for developing eco-tourism in the state.
The Chief Minister directed that eco-tourism facilities should be developed around all reservoirs in Bihar under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. He stressed the need to provide quality tourist amenities and encouraged officials to consult local communities and incorporate their suggestions.
He also instructed that attractive tourism packages be prepared at the earliest to draw visitors. “This will strengthen the local economy and create employment opportunities,” he said, adding that the government aims to position Bihar as a leading destination in the tourism sector.

Choudhary said that the state has strong potential in spiritual, cultural and eco-tourism. He urged departments to accelerate work in all promising areas to ensure rapid development.
The Chief Minister further directed the Environment Department to carry out plantation drives around ponds and reservoirs while developing tourist facilities. Wetland areas, he said, should be systematically organised and surrounded by greenery. These measures would help increase the state’s green cover and support water conservation efforts.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Tourism Secretary and Secretary to the Chief Minister Lokesh Kumar Singh, Special Officer on Duty Gopal Singh, along with other senior officials.
