Patna: Marking Mother’s Day, the Bihar Orthopaedic Association (BOA) organised a unique Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme at Hotel Chanakya in Patna on Sunday, bringing together medical expertise and a strong sense of community.
Held in collaboration with the Patna Orthopaedic Society (POS), the event was centred on the theme “Interdisciplinary Insights for Holistic Excellence in Healthcare”. The programme was conducted under the guidance of BOA President Dr Amulya Kumar Singh, Secretary Dr Ritesh Runu, POS President Dr Jeevendu Chaudhary and Secretary Dr Arnab Sinha, with participation from over 100 distinguished doctors.
In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the scientific sessions featured speakers who were spouses of medical professionals, aiming to strengthen family bonds while fostering a spirit of collective learning within the medical fraternity. The formal inauguration was carried out by former BOA President Dr Bashir Alam and Dr Captain Vijay Shankar Singh. Eminent guests, including Padma Shri awardee Dr R N Singh, Dr S S Jha and Dr Ranjeet Singh, attended the event and lauded the innovative concept and high-quality discussions.
The scientific sessions, moderated by Dr Anshupriya and Dr Charusheela Kashyap, covered a wide range of interdisciplinary topics. Dr Shree Rupa spoke on orthopaedic dermopathy, highlighting how skin manifestations can indicate underlying conditions such as joint disorders and diabetes. Dr Richa Thakur addressed sports dermatology, emphasising hygiene and preventive care to avoid skin issues during physical activity.

Dr Shweta Lal underscored the importance of preventive dentistry in avoiding costly and painful procedures, while Dr Shachi Gunjan discussed autism, advocating for awareness, acceptance and personalised therapy approaches, describing it as a form of neurodiversity rather than a disease.
Dr Shrutika Bhagat elaborated on pain management through lifestyle changes, yoga and non-pharmacological methods, and Dr Alka presented strategies for managing lower back pain through posture correction, exercise and thermal therapy.
Dr Neelu Prasad raised concerns about declining fertility in future generations, stressing lifestyle improvements and environmental awareness. Dr Khushboo spoke on assisted reproductive technologies, highlighting the role of natural methods and lifestyle changes in enhancing fertility.
Dr Manisha Singh provided an overview of breast cancer, advocating regular screening and healthy living to reduce risks. Dr Gunjan Ramani discussed managing major orthopaedic surgeries in cardiac patients, emphasising a multidisciplinary approach.
Dr Nimmi Rani encouraged a smart, syllabus-based approach to learning, discouraging unnecessary academic stress, while Dr Mini Anand highlighted advances in aesthetic and regenerative medicine focused on natural healing and restoration.
The CME concluded on a high note, with participants appreciating the enriching academic discussions, the integration of diverse medical disciplines and the celebration of unity within the BOA community.
