Patna: Bihar has reported 82 new dengue cases in the last 24 hours, with 31 of these cases identified in Patna district alone. The highest number of cases in Patna was recorded in Kankarbagh (8), followed by Pataliputra zone (6), New Capital and Azimabad (4 each), Bankipur (2), and Patna City (1), with the remaining cases from rural areas. This brings the total number of dengue cases in Patna district to 508.
A total of 38 patients are currently receiving treatment in major hospitals including PMCH, NMCH, AIIMS, and IGIMS. Due to the rise in dengue cases, it has been decided to designate Patna’s NMCH as a special hospital for dengue treatment. Patna District Magistrate Dr Chandrashekhar Singh announced that NMCH will soon be declared a dengue hospital, ensuring better and large-scale treatment facilities.
In the last 24 hours, five new dengue cases have been confirmed at SKMCH, bringing the total number of cases in the district to 58. District Vector Borne Disease Control Officer Dr Sudhir Kumar confirmed that no dengue-related deaths have been reported. Blood samples from suspected cases are being sent for ELISA testing, and all primary health centres (PHCs) have been alerted.
In Bettiah district, dengue has started spreading, with two patients currently being treated at GMCH. The hospital has prepared 18 separate beds for dengue patients, and the district administration has issued strict guidelines to ensure no lapses in treatment. GMCH hospital manager Mohammad Shahnawaz confirmed that special arrangements have been made to handle the rising number of dengue cases.
