Patna: The Bihar State Under-9 Chess Championship, hosted by Khelo Chess Academy under the auspices of the All Bihar Chess Association, concluded today at Aqua Water Park, Saguna Mor, Patna. The three-day event showcased intense competition, with Yuvan Raman from Muzaffarpur and Ankita Raj from Patna emerging as the champions in their respective categories.
In the boys’ category, Yuvan Raman claimed victory by defeating Aakarsh Anand of Patna in the final round on board one. Devansh Keshari from Patna secured the runner-up position after a win against Yashu Yashasvi of Nalanda on board two. Abhiraj Kumar Arunav from Muzaffarpur took third place, finishing with 5.5 points.
In the girls’ category, Ankita Raj displayed outstanding skill, winning every match and securing the championship with a perfect score. In a decisive match on the top board, she defeated Trisha Ranjan, who was playing with the black pieces, to claim the title. Trisha finished as the runner-up with four points. Kirti Sinha and Rajshree, also with four points each, were placed third and fourth respectively, based on tie-break points.
The prize distribution ceremony was held after the final round, with awards presented by prominent figures including Diljeet Khanna, President of the All Bihar Chess Association; Secretary Dharmendra Kumar; former Secretary Ajit Kumar Singh; social worker Rajesh Agrawal; Prabal Kumar Singh of Aqua Water Park; Gaya District Deputy Superintendent of Police Mehtab Alam; and Danapur GST Joint Commissioner Ganga Prasad. The event was attended by various dignitaries such as Manish Kumar, Treasurer of the All Bihar Chess Association; Joint Secretary Nandkishore; Shivpriya Bhardwaj; Himanshu Kumar; Organising Secretary Neha Singh; Tournament Director Ashish Raj; and senior chess players Vinay Kumar, Sudhir Kumar Sinha, Minhajul Hoda, and Vijay Kumar. Players from across the state and their families were also present to witness the culmination of the championship.
