Patna: Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has launched a sharp attack on the ruling NDA government, accusing it of delaying the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4) and “playing with the lives of lakhs of youths”.
In a press statement, Yadav claimed that during the 17-month tenure of the Mahagathbandhan government, he ensured that the education department was allocated to the RJD and prioritised large-scale teacher recruitment. He said that under TRE-1 and TRE-2, more than 2.2 lakh candidates were appointed within the stipulated timeframe without any paper leak and with complete transparency.
He further stated that the recruitment process for TRE-3 had also been initiated during his tenure. However, after the fall of the Mahagathbandhan government in January 2024, the examination was cancelled due to a paper leak and later conducted with delays.
Targeting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Yadav alleged that in the election year 2025, Kumar had promised an early announcement of vacancies and conduct of TRE-4 after assessing teacher shortages in government schools. “Nearly a year has passed since that announcement, but even the vacancies for TRE-4 have not been released,” he said.
Citing the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) calendar, Yadav pointed out that the examination was originally scheduled for August 2024 but has been repeatedly delayed. He accused the BJP-JD(U) government of lacking seriousness towards employment and alleged that the exam was strategically postponed during the election period.
Yadav also highlighted his tenure as Deputy Chief Minister, claiming that five lakh jobs were provided in 17 months and recruitment processes for over 3.5 lakh additional posts were initiated. In contrast, he alleged that the current “double-engine government” is repeatedly postponing examinations without valid reasons, jeopardising the future of job aspirants.
“The age limit of candidates is being crossed and their patience is wearing thin. Every youth wants a job to support their family and fulfil their aspirations,” he said.
Yadav urged the NDA government to immediately release the vacancies for TRE-4, calling it a matter linked to the future of lakhs of youths and the hopes of their families. He also appealed to the government not to sacrifice the rights and aspirations of young people amid political manoeuvring.
