Patna: RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav’s elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, appears to be making overtures towards NDA leaders under the pretext of a traditional ‘chura-dahi’ feast. After first inviting Deepak Prakash, a minister appointed from the Rashtriya Lok Morcha quota, to the feast scheduled on January 14 at his residence, Tej Pratap on Tuesday personally visited the official residence of Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha to extend a similar invitation.
Following the meeting, Tej Pratap Yadav was seen posing for photographs with Vijay Sinha and later spoke to the media. He maintained that politics and personal relations were separate matters. “Politics is different and relationships are different. I share a personal bond with Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha. That is why I came to his residence today to personally hand over the invitation for the ‘chura-dahi’ feast,” he said.
In a statement, Tej Pratap Yadav, president of the JJD, said he visited the Deputy Chief Minister’s official residence to invite him to the ‘Dahi-Chura Bhoj’ programme being organised at his government residence on Strand Road (26M) on the occasion of Makar Sankranti on January 14.

“We will be inviting everyone. There is nothing political in this. This is the first time I am organising a ‘chura-dahi’ feast at my residence. The programme will begin at 11 am on January 14, and I had come to the Deputy Chief Minister’s residence only to extend the invitation,” he added.
Overall, the developments have drawn attention at a time when Tejashwi Yadav, following the defeat in the Bihar elections, has largely remained inactive in state politics and had been on a foreign tour. Reports suggest he has now returned to India and is expected to arrive in Patna soon. Ahead of that, Tej Pratap Yadav has been seen repeatedly reaching out directly to BJP and NDA alliance leaders, fuelling fresh political speculation.
