Patna: In memory of the former Vice Chancellor of Magadh University and renowned geographer, Dr Parmeshwar Dayal, the Dr Parmeshwar Dayal Memorial Under-13 Inter School Cricket Tournament was inaugurated on Monday at the Cricket Academy of Bihar (CAB) ground, located at Moinul Haque Stadium. Shriram Khel Maidan Academy emerged victorious in the inaugural match.
The tournament was inaugurated by Bihar’s Education Minister, Sunil Kumar, along with Patna Mayor Sita Sahu, Patna Deputy Mayor Reshmi Chandravanshi, President of the Bihar Players Association Mrityunjay Tiwari, and Patna Municipal Corporation Empowered Committee member Indradeep Chandravanshi. The dignitaries released balloons and introduced themselves to the players. The event organiser and captain of the Indian Youth Cricket Team, Amikar Dayal, extended a warm welcome by presenting bouquets, shawls, and mementoes. Founder and Organising Secretary of the Sardar Patel Sports Foundation, Santosh Tiwari, offered a vote of thanks.
Notable attendees included Naveen Kumar, General Secretary of the Sardar Patel Sports Foundation, and Chandrakant Kumar. The ceremony was conducted by renowned announcer Mrityunjay Jha.
Sardar Patel Cricket Academy won the toss and opted to bat first, scoring 112 runs for 6 wickets in 25 overs. In response, Shriram Khel Maidan Academy chased down the target with ease, reaching 114 runs for 1 wicket in just 13.3 overs. Kanha was named Player of the Match, receiving the award from Ranji player Rajesh Rana. The match umpires were Rajesh Ranjan and Baijnath Prasad, with manual scoring by Ravi Kumar and online scoring by Rupesh Kumar.
